Activity BreaksActivity breaks provide a refreshing and active break for students and are considered a regular part of the school day.
Except for days when the weather is exceptionally wet or cold, students are expected to go outside for recess breaks.
We encourage them to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and would appreciate reinforcement by parents.
Supervision inside during recess times is provided in exceptional circumstances.
Generally, if your child is well enough to come to school, he/she is well enough to enjoy the benefits of fresh air.
On the rare occasion when your child needs to remain inside, please send a note to the teacher explaining the reason.
Student Use of School Telephone
In most cases, students are not permitted to use the telephone at school.
In the event that it is necessary for the student to make a phone call, adult supervision is required.
We ask that all social arrangements be made at home prior to arriving at school and that you send a note with your child if necessary.
Emergencies
In the event of an illness or injury which cannot be treated at school, parents will be consulted.
If parents are not available, the emergency contact will be consulted.
If no one can be contacted for a serious injury or illness, we will take your child to the Emergency Department at Georgetown Hospital.
We will continue to try and contact someone until we are successful.
Please ensure that the school has current information which includes home telephone number, work number, and the name and phone number of who to contact in an emergency if the parents are not available.
Please
make certain that the person you list is aware that they are your emergency
contact. School & Bus Cancellations
During the winter months, inclement weather may cause the disruption of bus transportation and regular school operations.
Limehouse PS is located in a rural area where most students are bussed and will be designated closed when transportation is cancelled for the day.
In case of inclement weather, the decision to close schools and/or cancel busses is communicated beginning at 6:30 a.m. in the following ways:
