Orange Shirt Day

posted Sep 24, 2018, 12:49 PM by Helen Provost

This year our Grade 5 students have started a Spirit and Global Awareness Day(s) committee. One of the first days selected by the committee is Orange Shirt Day. They wish to join other schools in Halton in efforts to bring more awareness to this day. The Halton District School Board is showing their support for Orange Shirt Day this Friday Sept. 28th. Our teachers and staff at Limehouse will be joining in to share in the message that “every child matters”, and remembering those impacted by residential schools. This is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for the generations of children to come.

The committee would like you to know that this Friday the LPS staff will be wearing an orange shirt to bring awareness to our school and community. You will also see the orange colour in our front foyer. Students and families are also invited to participate. Wearing anything orange will do. Since it is picture day and families may already have special clothing selected for the school photo, an accessory/item with orange on it (e.g., hat, scarf, shoe lace, socks), or something that can easily be removed, will work just fine.

Signed,

Mrs. Girard Gregori and the Spirit Day Committee
